Thanks for this tutorial-the most important setting that so often gets overlooked is enabling the M1/M1R to receive sysex data, and the display MUST show EXC:ENA. If it doesn't ( and mine didn't) you will be chasing your tail for hours trying to send data, and nothing will happen!

thanks buddy. Just loaded the factory sysex and separate sequence sysex into my M1R EX. Worked great. This is my first time to use sysex. Do I need to turn those settings you had us turn on back to off? Thanks for your help!

Can you still run your Korg M1R without a battery? I realize that memory will be lost everytime you turn off/on, but will it still load factory sounds?

Hi! I have followed all the instructions you have given to restore my Korg x3 sounds after it lost the battery but it won't work. I can dump from the x3 to the laptop. I can send midi files to the x3. But when I send sysex files to the x3 it doesn't show data is received. I have tried to change delay and buffer size with no luck! What can I do? Please, can anyone help?

Hi. I have a low battery in my Korg M1R. Until recently, I haven't switched it on in over 10 years. Where it used to say 'UNIVERSE' it now says 'INIT PROG' when I turn the machine on. Should I still dump my MIDI data before I change the battery? If so, I've just downloaded software called midioxse, will that do the trick? Many thanks for any replies.
