On this video, we're taking things back to basics as we explore the basic camera shots and angles most often used in filmmaking.

I'll give you descriptions of each shot and angle and examples of how each one should look so you can start exploring these looks and making your own by combining them.

Knowing the basic shots and angles used in filmmaking will help you become more confident on set, help you tell better stories with your films, and help you to create better looking films as well!

I've heard attempts to explain establishing shots and master shots, but I still wonder: Is an establishing shot the same as a master shot? BTW, I noticed that some of your shots illustrated the rule of thirds. For example, when you said that the character's eyes were at eye level to the viewer, the character's eyes were one-third of the way from the top of the screen.

Hey Ryan, I am wanting to make a short movie/trailer but I don't have any gear apart from my phone 😂One thing that keeps annoying me is even though I have a good quality phone, the camera quality isn't always satisfying to me. Do you have any tips on how to make do with just my phone?
