Creating Apps for Events - Overpass Insights #24

Hi, guys! Today, for our last video for the week, I will talk about creating apps for events!

About Overpass:

Overpass is a fast-growing mobile app development agency based in the UK that actually makes money from its own apps as well as creating money-making apps for clients. We have our ideas and build them. We can develop your thoughts too. If you haven’t started creating your mobile app yet, and need a UK App Developer, give us a call.

Our team consists of developers and designers with years of experience in various business sectors. We build apps in native iOS, Android, and hybrid frameworks. We are based in Wantage, Oxfordshire, but we work all over the UK and have clients across the globe.

About Eric:
Eric Wroolie is the owner of Overpass. He has built software and web-based solutions for very many large and small companies including Macmillan Publishing, RibbonFish, BNP Paribas, Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank, BBC Worldwide, CircData, and Omega Logic. Before that, he was a Chinese Mandarin and Vietnamese Linguist for the US Army and then a school teacher. Now, he makes apps.

I’m super surprised that your clients aren’t going with a firm that builds white label event apps for clients specifically. Under a former employer I worked with such a firm for an app for executives to go to a convention. It was pretty cool, we had the full meeting schedule, detail and bios for everyone added in addition to the typical vendor database and floor maps. Additionally we had a voting system for each meeting and event they attended to rate if we should do it again next year. And to be honest we went with the premium firm and it wasn’t too expensive (~$10k) and was complete within (recalling) I want to say 10-weeks with full UI personalization (colors, fonts, logos, testing rounds - everything). Firm made a bunch of money, I had piece of mind and I could assign an intern to oversee the project to completion.

Hey eric, just a question, do you know how long we should wait after we upload a new app so we can start working on its ASO? One of mobile action team told me since your app is new it's hard to find some ranked keywords, any advice?

What all did you put in the app? (or apps)

Nope I've never ever developed an event applications, sounds interesting though. Don't event apps manipulate push notifications now and again, sounds like a good time to use firebase notifications.

I might have to look more into event apps and add that to my list...

Only a dozen?
I've done a dozen a year (or more) when I was working for the company that basically did all the apps for the portuguese summer
