Sam had a way of singing that matched the music that was being played so well that it's indescribable. Amazing.

I was born in 1953 so I missed Louis Prima, Sam Butera and the Witnesses. But it's such a joy to watch these old videos. That was real talent and cannot not be duplicated. Sam's smile and Louis' exuberance were a winning combination, along with a fantastic back up band.

Sam was the all time greatest Sax man on this planet. I knew him personally, and I just loved the guy. RIP my friend.

As a tenor player I find him amazing. It's not about technique with Sam. He has all he needs, its about communication, saying something.

Keely Smith said the band really started to cook when Sam Butera hooked up with them.
