Anthony Joshua refused to give Usyk the reaction he was looking for & did not intercept, bite or actively parry Usyk’s probing lead hand. This forced Usyk to reset & when he did, Joshua then capitalised 🧠

How likely do you feel it is that Tyson Fury will employ similar tactics, to frustrate Usyk? 🧐

Yes, I remember spotting this right away 'he's not biting on anything this time round early doors'

Well said. Problem for AJ was a lack of focus and uncertainty about himself due to the years of unfair criticism and enormous pressure. In a way it was a great thing he lost for his own mental well being because of he won it’s just paper over the mental scars creating a false smile on the outskirts. He had a great gameplan but he did not have the full trust in his trainer and that is very important. People think it’s only AJ but now they can see that Fury himself was heavy reliant on and eventually also swayed by his trainer and team to believe he was winning.

AJ truly believed he was winning that first fight and was stunned to lose just like Fury because you feel like you’re being very competitive in there when you’re throwing more than your opponent. AJ threw over 600 punches, which was over 100 punches more than Usyk but Usyk landed 148 to AJ’s 123. It can be very confusing.

In fight 2, AJ was better prepared to use the right gameplan but with a trainer he couldn’t trust having just parted ways with his longtime trainer he was left fighting alone in there, listening to no one but himself. Unfortunately at the highest level you need clarity going into and during a big fight but AJ was far from sure of himself. Perhaps he shouldn’t have taken the rematch so soon or perhaps in defeat he finally began exorcising his own demons on the way to truly finding out about himself.

If a rematch happens it’ll still be as difficult a task as ever but the difference will be AJ sticking to who he is and sticking to the gameplan just as Usyk would do likewise.

May the best man win!

I actually want to see the trilogy. I believe AJ has learnt from all this.

I liked the tactics of the second fight when the fight started. He kept Usyk off balance a bit. By the 3/4th round he fell under Usyk’s spell as I call it. Started following him around the ring without mounting any real offense. And fought at Usyk’s pace. Was downhill from there until the 8th and 9th rounds came around. Had a lot of success. Then Usyk swept the remaining rounds with ease for the very mistakes he made after the 3rd.
