Nice set up with the necklace. I think I’ll do the same. But use a tactical pen and clip it to my work ID lanyard.

Kali fighting is a large reason why boxers changed from the old timey boxing stance u see on the fighting irish symbol. When the earliest waves of filipino’s first immigrated to this country, as with other immigrant groups of the past, boxing was one of the few jobs available to them where they could actually make a livable wage. Many of these filipinos who chose to get into boxing had a background in kali stick fighting which caused them to have a different fighting stance with their fists up near their jaw as if they were holding their kali sticks in starting position over their shoulders. The advantages this style offered these filipino fighters was undeniable and not only did this kali based style quickly become the standard for boxing but it also is a large part of the reason boxing became so popular in the Philippines . I find it hilarious picturing some big drunk irish guy going up against an old school manny pacquiao having no idea what hes about to get himself into

What I remember of this system and it's origin...Known as Jail House Rock/Slap Boxing, and practised in the Prison system SUPPOSEDLY started in NYC, some say COMY-FORNIA, and used to fight/AS a Game so the guards DIDN'T know if it was a real fight or just fooling around, like Brazilians did with hiding Capuera from the Spaniards ...
I learned some of it in Junior Hi in the mid 70's from a friend who's brother I think went to do some vacationing time with the state. In my later years and 30 plus years of martial arts and security that included state prison system and county, I never seen it used...
P.S.
THIS AND ONE OTHER VIDEO I SAW WITH A FMA/PHILIPINO INSTRUCTOR ACTUALLY 2 OF THEM, ONE WAS YOUNGER, ACTUALY SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT DEFENDING AGAINST A BLADE OF DIFFRENT LENGHT. THE YOUNGER INSTRUCTOR, HAD PROOF AND SHOWED IT WHEN HE LIFTED HIS SHIRT. Like you are saying, people need to STOP BELIEVING THE BULL SHIT LIES THAT THESE TECHNIQUES YOU SEE ON LINE, WILL HELP YOU AGAINST A BLADED ATTACKER. YOU NEED TO GET DISTANCE, A WEAPON YOURSELF OR AT MINIMUM...A BARRIER BETWEEN YOU AND THE ATTACKER.FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND "LUCK", SHORT FAST, HARD....STRIKES TO THE HAND/ARM WITH THE WEAPON AND MOVING, GOT ME OUT OF HARMS WAY TILL I WAS ABLE TO USE MY OWN DEFENSIVE MEASURE.
OH...I was a Gaurd/Deputy not on a state vacation...

I think it would be more unique if keysi, pugilism (Prize fighting| tactics of protecting the stomach with one arm and strike the other arm but one that you protect your stomach with can be like a power shot) is added. Keysi is something like you're doing but it's guard (Covering the entire head and shifting side to side) is constantly moving and you basically time your strikes with is unpredictable to the opponent. Yaw yan can be added which traps you're opponent's arm (Stoping they're strikes with your arm but the difference from yaw yan and wing chun is that Yaw yan immediately strikes the same arm after trapping and it uses elbows and knees. Yaw yan is brutal but effective) I study and research martial arts to create a martial art that maximizes defense and offense normally something like Kūdō but with dirty tactics like dirty boxing and rough & tumble (Like MMA but you break bones and you don't fight fair like using both of your hands together like a baseball bat, squeezing the eyes, punches weak points like the center of the chest or back of the head, kicking kneecaps and using your environment like smashing beer bottles over heads, pushing from the front and back, tripping, throwing sand in eyes, kicking the groin... Rough and tumble is arguably the most violent martial art) with the lethality of silat, kapap, combato, defendu, and defendo.

Me personally I have not trained in person but I have taught myself wrestling, BJJ and MMA. I improved my striking from playing UFC games and I do know yaw yan, lethwei, bokator, savate, defendu, defendo, dambe, silat, capoeira, taekwondo, karate, taido, jailhouse rock, krav maga, kali, keysi from YouTube but I'm not a master in these arts but did Incorporated moves from these arts to make my own fighting style.

There's also a 52 Blocks technique that may have come from POK SAU, LOP SAU, & HUBUD from Kali, as well as chain punches from Wing Chun.
