Actually as time went on and full plate became the norm shields were exchanged for two handed halberts/pollaxe/bec de Corbins. Generally a sword was a backup 'shit has hit the fan' weapon.

4:18 is false. Knight's armor were designed to protect the wearer as much as possible WITHOUT sacrificing mobility. If you can't move in the armor, then you shouldn't wear it
