As a direct-practice counselor with substance use, depressed, suicidal, anxious, traumatized patients, I find the portion on individual therapist difference the best info in the talk. It makes me want to give talks to administrators/owners of practices to inform them on how important the relationship between "teacher" and "student/patient" is and how they can support that better. Also, the Perspective-taking on your own thoughts/moods/physical sensations is THE healing effect from CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, etc.

he describes mantra meditation as a concentration practice, but most of the mantra studies are actually TM, which is not at all a concentration practice. In fact, mindfulness has more effort to control where the mind focuses than TM.

Thank`s to Dr. Hecht. Scientific, objective and without any manipulatory tendency, this is real science. Concerning the metaanalysis, there are many cohen`s d effect values that are > 0, 2, what in pharmacological concerns would be estimated as low effective. But here they are estimated as being without effect. Compared with antidepressants the shown efficacy is not as modest as it is claimed.

I'm sorry, but the title of this video is misleading. It should read "What Do We Really Know About MINDFULNESS and Health?" Not that I'm centering on that...
