Did We Just Find out the Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Date?

Following the June Nintendo Direct everyone is waiting for the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 and when Nintendo is going to reveal the Switch successor. President Shuntaro Furukawa has already confirmed Nintendo's next generation system will be revealed before the end of Nintendo's fiscal year in March 2025 but did we just figure out when it's happening? I think that realistically, the switch 2 could be revealed between October-January and released between April and June

I think we'll probably get the reveal toward the end of this year and a release between March - June of next year. In the meantime however, I don't think we'll be getting the usual September direct. More likely another partner showcase and/or indie world. The next proper direct will be between January - March and heavily feature the Switch successor and games coming to the system.

I agree. No reveal until early next year. Next year will be a very new strategy for Nintendo, adding many AAA 3rd party games, remastered Switch1 games, and of course the Switch2 exclusives.

I still am hoping the reveal is like the Switch reveal for Switch 2 so I am aiming for a Fall Reveal for it repeating history basically like what they did in 2016.

Here’s what I think could happen:

- announcement in a final Nintendo direct revolving around switch games in September. The switch 2 plans to release in October 2025
- announcement of an n64 classic edition coming 2025
- the 4th and final switch model releasing sometime after the switch 2 which would be a home/docked only version. This is similar to the the new 2ds xl releasing after the switch and the Wii mini after the Wii U.

There’s a rumor that the 10th generation Pokémon game won’t release until 2026 (breaking the 3 year cycle) so that it’ll be released on the new console. I wonder if Gamefreak and other gaming companies know more than the general public about when new consoles will release. I also wonder if they develop games without knowing which console it will be available on.

Showing "a bunch of" old games on the next system is a bad move. They'll think the next switch is like a PS5 where it's not really needed.

After all the reasons you stated; I think they will reveal the Switch successor 2-3 weeks after the release of the Zelda Edition Switch lite; so the middle of October. If it is not revealed by then; it could mean a middle or late 2025 release.

August is too soon imo. Not everyone will watch the full reveal and the news will spread like wildfire that a new Switch system is coming, and most people probably won't bother fully researching and will most likely assume that it's NOT backwards compatible, and that will hurt the sales up to this holidays for the current switch. Not to mention the Hyrule Switch Lite coming this September, a month after. The smartest decision would be to let the holidays pass and _then_ announce Switch 2 properly, bc holidays see the highest sales of consoles (~10 million for the switch!). By then ppl would've already bought an OG Switch, and they might be a bit sour (or not if the switch 2 is $399), but this way they will maximize sales before moving onwards to the next system, and ppl can have ample time to learn the new system is backwards compatible so that their current OG Switch purchases will carry over :)

The thing isn't even being announced until 2025 and only after that will it be shown and later still released in the holiday season of 2025. As for backwards compatibility i dunno, a major issue allegedly driving the Switch 2 release is piracy on the Switch, which in turn is driven by the Switch cartridges and format which were already cracked and replicated.

Having such cartridges also for the Switch successor would make it vulnerable to quick jail-breaking immediately after launch by exploiting the backwards compatibility using MIG carts, plus it would make the system more expensive which goes counter to Nintendo's whole business strategy

I think August might just not have a game. April didn’t have anything either. Also, I think that will be when the Basketball update for Switch Sports will release.
