American tries Canadian Maple Syrup...Blindfolded

preview_player
Показать описание
My American Friend Jason and I do an American vs Canadian maple syrup taste test to try and find out which country has better maple syrup. Now some of you will say “well this is dumb, Canada is the obvious winner without contest.” But you would be wrong. The US has a long history of Maple Syrup (surprisingly) and the competition gets sticky.

This was waaay too close. Learned a lot while making the video, like did you know many branded maple syrups are a blend of hundreds of syrups from different farms, WHAT!? Also, I know we missed A TON. So please let us know, what’s YOUR favourite maple syrup?

I knew your grandfather! His shop was across the street from me. What a warm and lovely man! He was, indeed, beloved in the community. I remember him telling me that your grandmother wanted to take a vacation, but he loved running his shop and hated leaving it even for a holiday. If you wanted potatoes, he would help you choose each one. And there was no getting out of the store without having a chat. He was a delightful character. You have his warmth and enthusiasm for life. I’m sorry for your loss. It is a loss for all of us.

Loved this one, and especially the interview with the store owner. That said ... you need to put more videos out!!! Even if it's just the two of you talking. They're so much fun. :)

The Farmer Jack store owner story was very inspiring and interesting! I’m glad you included it in your video!

My grandparents were maple syrup farmers in Quebec. I somehow ended up with some taps. So this year I showed my son how to make maple syrup.

Crazy how we made our own maple syrup from our trees this year. This is the first time making it as we just bought this property, I live in Canada.(Ontario)

I think Vermont vs Quebec would have been a better contest...

Joseph, sending heartfelt thoughts for the loss of your grandfather❤

Thank you for this video. You two always brighten my day, and fill my heart with laughter and joy. The friendship you and Jason share is so special; thank you for sharing it with us!
FYI, when a maple syrup bottle is hard to open, run the top under warm, almost hot, water for about 30-40 seconds. That should be long enough for the syrup crystals to soften.

After watching the video, I had to go to the fridge and get a spoonful of my local maple syrup! (Canadian)
-I think this video should remind us that really, it's not about which country makes the best syrup (They both can), it's that farmers are the real heroes of the maple syrup! Support them!

If I can't open small jars like that, especially if it's something sweet I run the cap under hot water for a minute and it usually will open easier.

Maple syrup taste varies a lot depending on the region where it is collected, how it is boiled and the outside temperature when it is collected.

Hey, sorry to hear about your Grandfather. We met him once and he was a wonderful, caring person, who I know, inspired you to be the best you can be. When my Dad retired back in the 80s, he had a hobby farm and tapped Maple Syrup. He would tap and collect from every tree. Maple Syrup ran freely in our home. He s since gone and we have found memories of pancakes at Gradma s with Grandpas Maple Syrup. Keep inspiring.

Yes! Helping prove that the best maple syrups come from "small" batch farms. I'm a Canadian ex-pat living in Huntsville Alabama. Long ago by chance, I found this farmer in Vermont (near the Mad River) which makes his own and sells it only to locals. With his help and guidance and after trying the all the different grades he had first (like 9), I found out I liked the Dark Amber Grade A best.

Quebec accounts for 70% of the world production of maple syrup according to Wikipedia, so one would think that most of the focus would have been there instead of Ontario, in the same fashion that you didn’t go to Burlington, Ontario to test out the best poutine, since poutine was invented in Quebec… ;) Same goes for wild blueberries btw, so don’t you go searchin’ for the best blueberries in the U.S. …

She's never been to Canada, and has no idea how delicious real maple syrup is. So excited.
