How a Prompt Library Transformed My ChatGPT Workflow

After noticing that I was repeatedly writing similar prompts during my frequent use of ChatGPT, I decided to streamline the process by creating a Prompt Library. This dedicated space allows me to store and quickly access my most effective prompts, saving time and ensuring consistency in my interactions with the AI.

I chose Google Sheets as the platform for my library, primarily due to its cloud-based functionality and my own familiarity with the service. While I've heard good things about Notion, I haven't yet had the chance to explore it as an alternative. Commercial options exist, but I favour a more personalised and cost-effective approach.

My Prompt Library is organised into two main sections: 'Information' and 'Components'. The former provides details such as the category, authorship, creation date, and whether the prompt has been tested. The 'Components' section delves into the specifics of the prompt, including the role, context, instruction, and optional fields for both input and output indicators. This organisation makes it easy to generate ready-to-use prompts.

The library's comprehensive nature and the filtering options available—by category, role, or date—have drastically reduced my time searching for the right prompt.
