I found that Narcissistic abuse is common in AA. Controlling and charismatic people are more likely to sponsor alot of people.

10:45 thank you for your admission. It takes courage. I was made to keep digging till I found what made my sponsor happy. To be in a vulnerable state at the hands of a egotistical bully is a very dangerous situation. And this is when its two women. Imagine when its a man and a woman. Hence the 13th step. I knew of some one who was raped on a 12th step call, by an old timer. Some one whom my club house held at a extremely high regard.
I was discouraged from thinking for myself. A grown woman in her late 40's and there were plenty of times I found myself lost when it came to decision time.

I wanted a friend or sister type and I had some the steps on my own and with my therapist and they wanted me to do it again. It’s something they continue to do over and over. I don’t see the point in rehashing it.

I was in a regular meeting where a woman shared every week about her sexual abuse . I went to my sponsor and said “shouldn’t she be speaking to a therapist about that, I felt so uncomfortable, I was told to look within and ask myself why I was feeling uncomfortable! Omg 😳 unreal, some things are private, simple as, I didn’t have to look with in 😂😂😂

I’ve been out of AA for 5 weeks, was semi brainwashed for 7months out of 3 years, I knew in my gut, it wasn’t for me, the sponsor I had is a miserable man, who values his self worth on sponsorship, controlling, manipulating and narcissistic. Best thing I’ve done is leave AA, when a person decides to quit drinking, they’ll stop, regardless of AA, the program, the fellowship .
The BS they spout is delusional and false .

I wanted to bring this up sometime Now is great!
Yeah, they Never, Never wanna hear about how well your doing or how much you like ANYTHING And if they ask, they are done listening and change the subject after they hear 3 sentences from you! They only ask to appear like they GIVE A SHIT! They switch back to AA garbage ALWAYS! That Killed me, and I noticed that right away! When I thought I was making "Friends". I thought, Your kidding me? 2-4--6-8 hours involved with AA stuff, and now we are doing something NON AA, FINALLY! AND WE HAVE TO TALK MORE AA! WTF? I was towards the end saying in the clubhouse that I'm gonna puke, hearing all this. You guys make me want a drink!
I was throwing up in my throat, wondering why? WHY did I come back for the last 3 months!
I'm only 3 minutes into this one!

I did not drink alcohol, but b/c my desperate need to heal with being trapped in codependency with a person that was giving me free sessions, l felt trapped and lost and started going to AA, l got abused endlessly through trying with a sponsor, or just random people randomly abusing me, l got attacked by a Narcissist who would co chair who never worked one to one with a sponsor, who l foolishly tried to be friend's with, the last time l was there she followed, touched me obnoxiously, saying expecting to acknowledge her as she knows l do not want to speak to her, then laughs obnoxiously trying to laugh at me for ignoring her, as she wears sunglasses sitting from the front or at an angle staring at me like a predator....this a black female at mid city in Phoenix AZ who cannot accept why she is so unattractive and preys on people..claiming to be all about God wanting to start a is narcissistic a dangerous person towards vurnerable adults....12 step does not work for me....the last sponsor l had said the thing what's your intention behind....there was no intention l just did what l did....that's it ..thank you for this !!!!

Didn't this phenomenon of 'Sponsorship" (ego deflation) come from Synanon?, or EST? What a bizarre concept--Abusive relationships..
