Likewise compare Sachin vs KALLIS PONTING WAUGH LARA etc. Likewise compare Gavaskar vs SIR VIV BOTHAM HADLEE, FEARSOME FOUR etc. In short, two different generations cannot ever be compared due to DIFFERENCE IN TEAM & OPPOSITION STRENGTH, PITCH & UMPIRE QUALITY, BOWLING/BATTING FRIENDLY ERA and many other crucial factors which cannot be ignored.

Different generations cannot be compared. Cricket was different in 1970s and 1980s when Viv richards played, imagine playing odi cricket with red ball and without helmet and no restriction on the field with 90 meter boundaries and Viv averaged 47 in an era where others averaged about 35 and his strike rate was 90 when other were around 65-70 (I mean the strike rate is comparable to some of the modern day batsmens -Amla, Rohit and Kane). Sachin similarily averaged 44 in an era where players averaged around 36-42 and had strike rate of 86, when others were around 75-82. Kohli averaged 60 when others average about 50 and strike rate of 94, consistent players have have strike rates in the range of 85-92 with the exception of Alien deviliers. So the conclusion is Viv richards was the greatest batsmen of 1970s and 1980s, Sachin the greatest of 1990s and 2000s & Virat is the greatest of 2010s and 2020s. But if it comes down to one GOAT then it is Viv richards, He had unmatchable impact - 31 MOMs in 187 matches i.e. 1 man of the match every 6 games, Virat no. 2 with 7.1 ratio and Sachin no. 3 with 7.5 ratio.

There was not need to shift the gears in that period, in test match no one was going for result which is clear by number of draw matches, buckets of runs were made on that pitches, different generation there should be no comparison, if you compare then consider everything because he played 25 years of his life and virat is close to him within 15 years with heavy schedule of cricket, this sports tak can't compare virat with this generation players so now they will go in past

With the same logic, hopefully Akhtar is gonna admit that Starc, Bumrah, Shami and Boult are miles clear of Akram, McGrath, Waqar, Akhtar and Lee. All of the Earlier 4 have performances/stats comparable/ beter than the latter ones. Because they bowled with two new balls, just imagine what starc, bumrah, shami and boult would do if they had a reverse swinging white ball with them, probably would have averaged similar to the someone like Joel Garner. Plus the earlier 4 have much better world cup performances, Starc, boult, shami are amongst the top 6 wicket takers in the world cup, bumrah will join them in the next world cup.

Sachin R. Tendulkar is the benchmark. Today's pitches are batting paradise, bowlers are pedestrian batting few and the advent of T20 cricket has changed the dynamics.

Sachin has faced some of the greatest bowlers of all time in Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Shane Warne, Allan Donald, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Shane Bond, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Malcolm Marshall, Andrew Flintoff, Muttiah Muralidharan, Chaminda Vaas, Shaun Pollock and Dale Steyn in their prime. And to score that many centuries is what dreams are made of.

Only stupid, but enthusiastic millennials and ignoramuses would compare both. I love both equally. But for the cricket connoisseurs and purists, Sachin R. Tendulkar is once in a lifetime batsman. Virat is once in a generation batsman.

If Sachin R. Tendulkar played in this era, he would have scored 200 100s and won many matches with the likes of iconic Jasprit Bumrah, Mo. Shami, Mo. Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik and Jaddu in the bowling line-up.
