Source of truth for open infrastructure management with open-source netbox

Data Center Infrastucture Management (DCIM) system plays an essential role in everyday operation of an Telco/Cloud provider. In Viettel (largest telco in Vietnam), we managed OpenStack clusters with thousands of compute hosts and VMs. Managing these objects is a challenging task. Data from DCIM is a source of truth for monitoring systems (Prometheus, Alertmanager...) and automation systems (Ansible, napalm...) to work. By leveraging netbox - an open source project for managing infrastructure data, we can manage infrastructure data in one centralized place. Most of the infrastructure data (such as Subnets, IP Ranges, VRF, IP addresses, compute hosts, VMs, ...) are discovered and stored automatically by some sort of auto discovery-service. In this session we will share how we:

-manage infrastruture data

-auto discovery these data

-and some functionalities that we added to netbox to enrich the features
