Tom Lehrer is one of my cultural heroes, even though he only wrote a limited number of songs.
I had all of them memorized when I was a sophomore in high school.
Still alive at 95 and living in Santa Cruz.

I check if Tom Lehrer has died no less than 10 times a year. Still kickin’, absolute legend.

I love Tom Lehrer, and this is one of my favorites of his songs. I attended the funeral today of a man who was one of the world’s greatest authorities on another great Austrian composer, Anton Bruckner. One of this man’s friends mentioned that the friend preferred Mahler, but had been “converted” to Bruckner. The first thing I thought of was Alma’s song! And so I came to YouTube to listen and have something to smile about.

So ahead of its time. A ballad about how 3 big shots fumbled a baddie

One of my absolute favorites, among his many, perhaps only topped by "The Vatican Rag".

Hi musical comedy, I have you to thank for getting me into Bo Burnham and Tom lehrer. I cannot tell you how much I love these two artists and you have done me a great service by allowing me to watch and adore them so once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Just toured the home of Walter Gropius in Lincoln Massachusets. I could absolutely NOT get this song out of my mind. According to the guide Gropius was not terribly impressed by it but thought Alma would have loved it.
