I Just Installed This RAD Truck Strap

Alright guys- check this out.
Someone recently said in the comments that I should get one of these RAD Truck Straps.
It’s an auto-retracting rachet strap that bolts right into the bed of the F series pick-up trucks.
First, you remove the factory mounting plate.
These screws take a T-30 bit- the kit comes with new hardware that has a bigger head and a washer on it.
I start by putting two bolts in the left side.
I also bought their hook plate- I’m going to install it on the right side.
This gives me an additional tie off location.
I’m always hauling long material with my truck, so it’ll be nice not to have to get a rachet strap out of the toolbox every time.
Just push the red button and it takes up the slack, then rachet it down.
I’ve just gotta say it- “That’s not going anywhere.”
Once you’re done with it, push the red button and it automatically retracts.
This isn’t an ad- I bought this strap with my own money, and so far I’m impressed with it.
My only concern is- since it’s always outdoors in the bed of the truck will it start to deteriorate with rain and UV light hitting it over time. We’ll find out.

1 tip... put the ratcheting piece on the passenger side in case you have to make adjustments, you won't be in traffic.

The UV rays from the sun will eat it up, so wrap your Crown Royal bag around it it’ll last for years longer.

Belly wrap that wood or whatever you’re trying to keep in place. Just putting it over the wood will still allow it to move side to side.

i will install one this on my ranger no matter what the it go because i hual a lot of junk to metal buyer and this could save me big headache and got tires of losing my stupid strap everytime i toss them in back bed and flew out on highway

Flip it around so the strap comes from the bottom. This will give you more leverage and better access to ratcheting lever.

Big tip from a flatbed trucker- Put a twist or 2 in your straps before you tighten them down. That'll stop them from buzzing and flapping in the window while you're going down the road. (No, this does not affect the strength or durability of the strap.)

Maybe a cover made with a scrap of old tire tube. Put it behind the top two bolts and let it hang over the top

I like it but I’m going to offer a tip though, wrap the strap over and back around your piece of lumber before hooking it to the other side and it will be much more secure.

Another tip for readers.
Put a twist on the strap.
When the straps are flat, they can catch air and vibrate making very loud humming noises. The twist stops this from happening. Idk exactly how, but I've done it myself and it does work.

I keep these in the back of my tundra and the weather has definitely deteriorated the fabric webbing over time but they still work.
