The magnet in an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine is incredibly powerful, typically ranging from 1.5 to 3 Tesla, which is thousands of times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field. This immense magnetic strength is essential for creating detailed images of the body’s internal structures, but it can also be dangerous if underestimated.

Anything metallic brought near the MRI machine can be rapidly pulled toward the magnet, turning everyday objects like scissors, keys, or even large metal equipment into hazardous projectiles. If metal objects are not properly removed before entering the MRI room, they can fly toward the magnet with great force, potentially causing injury to patients or staff. Implants, such as pacemakers or metal fragments in the body, can also pose serious risks, as the magnetic field can interfere with their function or cause movement within the body.

This is why MRI safety protocols, including thorough screening for metal objects and implants, are critical to prevent injuries. The power of the MRI magnet, while vital for imaging, must be respected to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved.

This would be an episode of 1000 ways to die

Don't bring your kinks to a medical appointment

I work in Radiology. I never thought I'd need to ask if the patient has "toys" before taking them into MRI 😅 I do always ask if they have any metal in themselves.

i did a MRI last month and my hair was wet. After the scan, the nurse told me: "oh your hair shouldn't be wet! sometimes the machine burns hair, i'm glad nothing happened 😄" i was like wtf you just tell me this now??

It’s not for them to anticipate a type of use. It’s for them to disclose the material type 100% accurately.

The scan looks horrifying. Nothing seems to be in the right place. How is she still alive?

I don’t understand. Even if it had been 100% silicone, why would someone wear that when they’re getting an MRI?

But why did she even have it in when taking a scan 😂

When I had my MRI, I took out my helix piercing which was supposed to be non-magnetic just to be safe. Ended up losing the piecing because I wasn't careful lol, but at least I didn't have it ripped out by the MRI. Didn't wanna take that chance.

Now we know why some labels have such absurd warnings. This is so crazy.

When I needed to have an MRI, I was a mechanical technician and I worried about having tiny metal particles embedded in my finger tips from my job.

Now sex toy companies have a new label to add to the list xD

I'm not sure who is more at fault: the toy manufacturer for not disclosing there was metal in it or the woman for taking her butt with her into her MRI (if it was a scheduled appointment). If this was an emergency or urgent situation (I.e. a car accident or the butt plug got stuck), I can understand why removing the plug would be furthest from her mind (especially if she thinks it is 100% silicone and not going to harm her in the MRI).

Why did she have it in her during a hospital visit in the first place? 😭💀

After being told to move everything from your person except for the clothes, how do you keep THIS inside of you… I was honestly scared shitless to go there even tho I haven’t had any prohibited thing on me

The 100% silicone label was probably for the exterior. Doubt the lawsuit will workout for her.

Why would anyone wear this during a check up? If you're going for an MRI scan are you not worried enough about other things like your health? How does this become a priority for you in this case? I know the Dr is not judging the patient but this patient should feel stupid for doing dumb things knowing they will be scanned by a machine. Doctors now have to ask patients all kinds of invasive questions about ridiculous things because people are so idiotic.

Why would you wear one in a first place? Especially to the medical facility? Like why?
