I really needed that "You're enough" bit at the end 😭 I don't use Instagram nearly as much as I used to but it's the main platform I use to talk to friends who don't have Discord and it's where I post my art and I can say with confidence that it is absolutely fucking horrible for your mental health. It's ruined me and I know it.

People will bully for literally anything you say or post, artists are slandered and attacked by trolls and told their art isn't good enough, people are made of for literally no reason at all and bullied to fucking dust, artists and young kids often start getting comparasion habits from the amount of toxicity and begin to think they aren't enough (I've definitely been deeply affected by that issue).

It's a terrible place to be and that's why I've been starting to post my art on Tumblr. My Instagram following is pretty okay and most of my followers are quite friendly, but out in the wild, you find the most brutal people and spaces, so it's kinda hard to do literally anything without fearing you'll be attacked.

Tumblr is a much safer space for me, though honestly I'm still trying to get used to it because I'm still clinging to that fear of being attacked for making one harmless post or comment. If you don't have Instagram, you probably shouldn't get it. It'll do terrible things to your mental & possibly physical health.

Being an artist on Instagram is really hard because the community is SO toxic, and the algorithm hates us. The thing is that theres no other good place to post art currently besides twitter, and that's even worse.
