How to get to Pompei from Rome by train

Fun video! There are lots of other videos with tons of chit chat if people want that. I appreciated seeing some real time walking to get an idea of how early I will need to herd my family out of our hotel and to the station. And seeing how crowded places are and the tip about having coins for the second ticket is very useful. Thank you for sharing!

This takes you to pompei scavi just in case your hotel is in central pompei ... dont take this train take the trenitalia which stops at Pompei .From pompei scavi to central pompei a long walk about 15 - 20 minutes .

I went to Pompeii twice ... i didn't realize i could connect to the local train to Pompeii underground from the main train station as you did ( i walked outside and across the piazza to the other entrance . ) Also ... the first time i went to Pompeii ... i caught the wrong train ; on the same tracks but its destination was modern Pompei not Pompeii scavi ... I had to get out and wait 45 minutes for a train returning a few stops to get out from that one and recatch the correct train with scavi as destination ( is a common mistake with tourists ) Best thing to do is ask a local if this train that has arrived is pompeii scavi ....

That is not a security check. It is just a way to check if people has got a ticket to enter the train area of the station!

I'm sorry. I didn't see how you figured out which binario to go to. Did you buy the ticket ahead of time and did it have the binario on the ticket? Can you buy the ticket in the train station? Did you get on one train that went straight to Naples?

You are better off hiring a private taxi. Rome, let alone Naples, is a hotbed of thievery, especially on trains. Do yourself a favour and pre-plan your visit. Hire a car or look for a reputable taxi company
