Film critic Lisa Nesselson speaks to Eve Jackson about the week's film news, including Martin Scorsese's seven-part documentary series about one of his favourite New York personalities - writer, wit and raconteur Fran Lebowitz. They also chat about MyFrenchFilmFestival, the online film festival celebrating French movies, plus the incredible movie-making masterclasses from the likes of John Malkovich, Ken Loach and Francis Ford Coppola available online thanks to the Parisian film institution Forum des Images.

I have a handwritten letter from Paul Schrader(?) to me, accepting my offer to direct my Andy Warhol movie I had written to produce. But my investors, idiots, disagreed, saying he wasn't insureable due to his age (1992?). Finally, MGM blocked my project by going into production with a low budget Warhol saga. At least I knew Andy, and Paul Morrissey was my consultant, ELvis estate AND Marilyn Monroe's, both allowed me to use them on the posters, with Andy in the middle, and video clips of Elvis and Marilyn to incorporate in the movie. I had to let go due to MGM.
Was a great project. Maybe in next life!😛

I can’t imagine identifying any less with any human being on earth than this Fran Lebowitz character but between that preview Sarah Nate live and the fact that she’s some kind of freak who won’t use any technology at all and seems to smoke like a chimney I might have to watch the series just like tiger king to watch the freaks in action
