Ikai is a first-person psychological horror game drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore. Live the horror by the hand of its defining yokai and submerge into the superstitions of the past driven by a unique story and exploration.

Ikai embodies the spirit of the classical psychological horror genre with a defenseless main character incapable of attacking the evil creatures. However, it explores a new sense of horror by making the player face the threats directly neither fleeing nor attacking.
Every mechanic of the game is meant to raise this relatable feeling of helplessness and create a tense atmosphere. The slow, precise and natural movements as a way of interaction resemble real life’s to foster immersion in the uncanny world of Ikai.

Launching March 29, 2022 for PC and consoles.

I'm intrigued. In the absence of games like Fatal Frame or Siren, we really need more Japanese style horror games.

Yes. That is what I call horror. Not zombies, not tons of blood or monsters. But ghosts, mysteries and some astral creatures.

My first reaction to reading about the setting of the story and being a shrine priestess was to think of the amazing and beloved Kuon, it's no wonder others have thought of that game too. I'm very excited for Ikai, it's one of the few games that I'm looking forward to! Even though Horror games can really scare me. Good luck with everything!

As someone whos a big fan of Kuon on the PS2, I am so excited for this game as there are nowhere near enough horror games set in ancient Japan. I wish more developers would make horror games set in ancient Japan cause its a really cool setting that is unique in the horror genre. I remember playing Kuon when it first came out and it was so damn creepy and especially cause horror done in ancient settings is really effective. As unlikely as it may be, I hope FromSoftware will dig back into their old catalogue of games and give horror games another go cause the very few in the genre they did make were amazing so hopefully they will at least remaster Kuon if not remake or even make something close to it. I dont even care if FromSoftware decide to make Kuon into another souls type game, we just need more horror games in ancient Japan. Ikai looks so good so its definitely gonna be a day one purchase for me XD

It is a 'horror game' with the background of the feudal system in the Japanese war era in the Middle Ages. It seems incredibly scary. I am very much looking forward to these games. The evil spirits of medieval Japan are not really a joke, because they are aggressive, cruel, and scary because they died in Japan, where there were many wars of conquest.

I played this demo recently! It'll only be a couple months before it comes out. It is very pretty and spooky, especially the things in the environment. The talking cabinet freaked me out 😂
