For toddlers, keep in mind that they can just be fickle in general, so do avoid mentally anchoring them by drawing attention to their food preferences or making a fuss. One time they don't eat something, they might like it next time - whether prepared differently, or just the same. An argument about it will anchor them, as will frowning, making a dejected/disappointed expression, and saying something like: so, you don't like asparagus?. Next time they'll just repeat your words "I don't like asparagus" and try to do it in a way to provoke you to react, as toddlers are wont to do.

It looks like my daughter did everything right! I'm impressed! One thing my grand believes, is if he eats green beans, it makes him run fast. Now and again he'll finish eating them, and insist he has so much energy he has to run a few laps in their many acre yard. She also puts him to work if he wants to help her cook, by standing on his tower and using a plastic knife to cut up softer veggies. He takes ownership of some dishes because he helped. Also sheet pan dinners. She asks him to look in the vegetable bins and see what he wants with his protein. He has smoothies and thinks donuts are sliced apples, cut into rounds, with maybe peanut butter and a few sprinkles. Such a great new world of kids eating well!

Interacting with different foods every day helps children to discover the wide variety of whats available and helps them to build confidence trying new things. Of course they're going to fear the unknown so let's help healthy foods become familiar. Food can be fun. Even little tiny children can get involved with 'cooking' start with a yogurt berry and granola parfait for example. They can assemble all the ingredients in their cup like a craft.

This video has some really solid tips.

Awesome content as ever. Will immediately forward this to two pregnant co-workers. Btw I had to struggle through 2 years of not wanting to eat anything but spinach and banana with my daughter (when she was 3). Now at 13 she is a a vegetarian since 15 months from her own choice. It is a long time struggle sometimes but so worth it.

This one has been very useful for me. The third is 3-y-o now, and we do have some problems; surprisingly, more with fruits than with veggies. Thanks for the ideas, we'll certainly try them!

Hint for spiralized zucchini. Never, ever boil it. It gets mushy and watery. Instead, get a sheet pan and line it with a silpat or parchment paper. Spread out your zucchini noodles and bake them until they are as cooked as you’d like. They are MUCH closer to pasta this way.

This is an amazing video. Your knowledge is one thing but you have a great understanding of how children's minds work. I will be referring to this video every now and again - thank you.

I used to love to eat beans before I got type 2 diabetes
Used to eat lean meat and eggs regularly and occasionally fatty meat
Oh I also ate a bunch of sugar and refined carbs with carcinogenic seed oils

I've often read that it takes at least 15 tasting attempts before a toddler will accept a new food. I laugh, because I've been eating kale for years and still don't enjoy it. I think the trick is to make the "tastes" tiny, inoffensive amounts. For example, despite having a repulsion to black pepper my entire life, I started putting undetectable amounts in a spice blend I used every day. After a couple of months, I noticed that I didn't dislike it anymore, even when I could really taste it.

My son is so picky but if i let him chop the veggies with me with a kid knife he will try most of the foods raw although he doesnt want to eat a lot of them cooked at dinner its all progress.

I dont worry because he get many fruits and veggies in smoothies.

I do oats, milk, fruit, veggies and a little no sugar peanut butter. He will eat any i mean any fruit or veggies in this mix. I do various fruits, kale or spinach, carrots, zucchini, beets, cauliflower, butternut squash

I searched and diddnt find anything in your videos about fish consumption. I would love a video in your format about the risks with heavy metals (as one aspect) with fish consumption.
