it only turns off automatic updates, it doesn't turn off constant nagging that TV pops up about updates.

Wish you had a real fix, this did nothing when I looked mine was already turned off. You need to update your video or show us how to really turn it off and that's by removing any WIFI settings and or unplug your CAT5/6 cable to your TV.
