We talk about what I bring with me to run Dungeons and Dragons! Everything I use fits inside the DnD Start Box besides my marker board! What do you roll with?

You pulling up every sheet of paper, explaining it, and then saying 'but I don't want to talk about that' got funnier and funnier as the video went on.

“But I don’t want to talk about that, because I want to talk about..” should be a map crow t-shirt

Really cool game system, seems super easy to just pick up and play, but I don't want to talk about that.
I want to talk about how giving players a new ability after each session gets them acquainted with their abilities so much more smoothly than the typical 5e levelup system, but I don't want to talk about that because I really want to talk about how the spell system you made (having spells "locked" behind scrolls or offerings) is super evocative for low-magic worldbuilding and feels a lot more like what magic is like in folk tales.
But
I don't want to talk about that.
I actually want to talk about how this channel has been a really cool source of inspiration. I feel a lot more confident in my dungeon design process now. Thank you for that, looking forward to seeing more :)

I'd love to see more of those PBTA-style 5e class play books!

I've watched lots of different DM tips and this is the most useful thing I have seen. Lots of things I will be bringing to my own games. Thank you for sharing.

This video was fun to watch. I use chess pieces in my games also. I took the checkers I got with the chess set and marked each to make them unique. A cheap tumble tower is also in my DM bag for when I need to make a layout quickly. I use the chess boards for my grid.

Awesome video! Seeing this all together gives me some perspective on how much stuff you actually need to run a game. Or at least how much I want!

I am putting together a kit for my own games, and this is an amazing way to not only simplify the kit, but make gameplay easier for new folks. I've been watching your guides on maps, events, and characters as well. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great video! Have me rethinking my DM essentials.

I absolutely love all these little systems and bits of notes, especially that they're all printed out and physical which is something that I find so much easier to deal with than sifting through documents on my laptop

Some real good stuff in there. I really like DM screens because they let me fit more crap on the table without taking up a whole lot of space since they're vertical. I keep PC stats clipped to it for easy reference.

That village map with all the notes is super cool.

I rarely ever comment, but after watching probably 20 of your videos, I really felt the urge to message you. I'm currently deployed away from my family and it can get kind of lonely. When I watch you videos I feel like I'm listening to an old friend sharing his passions and for just a moment I feel like I'm home again. I really appreciate the hard work you set aside out of your busy schedule to share your stories, art, and life with us. Somethings are more powerful than you think.

I've been working on my own grab and go DM kit, and while I'm going about it at a different angle then you did (I'm going for something I can pick up and use for the rest of my life that contains everything for a basic but fun D&D game with only the contents of the box and maybe an iPad I was going to bring with me anyway) but I still learned a useful technique for future campaigns.

While I'm still likely going to make my own maps for things, a simple DM map that is just a grid of boxes with location descriptions and secrets laid out in a roughly geographical way... that would be so much nicer for me then having a duplicate player map but with all the secrets labelled and me needing to hunt through my notes to remind myself whats what.

I've used Fisher Price style peg people. You can buy blank wooden ones in bulk fairly cheap online. Then players can easily remember which color is their character. They are only slightly larger than chess pieces and a lot of fun.

Great kit! I have been trying to go super super minimal recently. If I need tables of names and stuff, I stick them on a tablet in my google drive to keep them all in one place. Then just index cards, a few tokens, dice, and NO RULES BOOKS if possible. Oh and no DM Screen haha. I follow the Runehammer method now and keep everything possible open and honest.

Do you think we could see a video on the roll under system and the character sheet? I'm sure people would love an explanation of the system and the pros you personally see in it!

I love the simple city map! This will make my next game a lot easier.
Is there any video where you explain the DM Rules for enemies a bit more? I read it but don't fully understand how it works.
