It’s sad to me that so few people even know of this movies existence. From the acting to the music to the scenery and the story itself, the whole thing is a masterpiece

Still one of my favorites movies and one of the most sad and heartbreaking movies I’ve seen, everything is perfect about it. It truly shows how death of a loved one impacts us so much as the death of Samuel almost if not did destroy the family thanks fully in the end they could rekindle and push away the anger and hatred as they realized they needed each other as that’s what family is for.

We lost James Horner too soon. What a genius. Another one of his greatest scores is "Glory."

When the orchestra comes in after the piano solo...it just nurtures the soul.

Such a beautiful score. James Horner was a fabulous composer, taken from us far too soon. I am a retired studio singer and worked many of Mr. Horner’s sessions. He was dear.

There’s an elegance to this conductor that just makes the notes sound more opulent and more soothing to the soul.

Last week I was on the classic Red Bus tour in Glacier National Park, and our driver played this as we rolled through the spectacular scenery. I was almost brought to tears. I had to ask what the name of it was, and now I must listen to the whole soundtrack!

I’ve always been a MASSIVE fan of movie scores, especially those done by John Williams, James Horner, and Hans Zimmer - the “big 3” as I like to call them. I’m so fond of the talent these three composers possess. If I have to pick one singular piece of music that’s my favorite that any of them did, it would be this piece from “Legends of the Fall.” In my humble opinion, it’s the most beautiful piece of orchestral music ever written. James Horner, who we lost too soon and so tragically, somehow magically captured a soaring beauty in the melody that plays throughout “The Ludlows.” The piano intro, the way the orchestra joins in after, and the way the violins complete it. It’s all so deeply beautiful and transports you to the time and setting of the movie like any great score does. Bravo, FSO, bravo for playing this piece with the proficiency and respect it commands.

From the time the orchestral score came out on the album I have loved this piece. It can stand apart from the film as a classic on its own. From the piano intro to the timely blending in of all the string instruments and the quiet inclusion of the brass, including the tuba, gave this music its rich and distinct sound. The results was a deeply emotional and memorable musical experience.
