Reminds me of the Cyberpunk 2077 chapter where a company were controlling influential politicians by infusing their brain with control devices and the technicians were controlling their life behind a one-way mirror in their apartment. You wanted to expose them the control room when there were no one, they got a strong headache before reaching the hidden door, then they were convinced that they don't need to see what you wanted to show them. Next day, they continued their "life" like nothing happened.
