The Inspector General is a 1949 American Technicolor musical comedy film, suggested by the play by Nikolai Gogol. It stars Danny Kaye and was directed by Henry Koster. The film also stars Walter Slezak, Barbara Bates, and Elsa Lanchester. Original music and lyrics are by the associate producer Sylvia Fine, who was married to Danny Kaye, with Johnny Green credited for musical direction and incidental score. The film is loosely based on Nikolai Gogol's play The Inspector General. The plot is re-located from the Russian Empire into an unspecified corrupted region of a European country that suddenly finds itself under the supervision of the First French Empire.

NOTE: This WB Film, Would Be The Last One Before 1950s And Along With The Film (Chain Lightning - 1950 "Produced In 1949 And Released In 1950"), And Would Be Part Of The WB Era Pre-1950s Film Library Sold To "Associated Artists Productions" (a.a.p)" in 1956 and then acquired and purchased by "United Artists (UA)" in 1958 and later formed "United Artists Television" in 1969, later in time, "UA" merged with "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) )" In 1981 and 1982 it was named "MGM/UA Entertainment (MGM/UA)" and then in 1986, Ted Turner and his company "Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), via Turner Entertainment Co." Purchased The MGM Film Library Pre-May 23, 1986 and Selected Materials From United Artists and Including a.a.p, and Part of the Creation of Turner Entertainment Co. and 10 Years Later, On October 10, 1996 The "Turner" Company Has Been Acquired and Purchased and Merged by WB's parent company "TimeWarner" (Today Warner Bros. Discovery), causing Turner to join with Warner Bros. and also for WB, which recovered its WB Pre-1950s Film Library, for distribution and was responsible for Sell Your Film Library and Its Distribution in the Past.
