The CS-3 sounds brighter. Both compressors are great, i have a Boss CS-3 and i love it.

I have both. Used the CS-3 on my board from 1992 - 2016. Used a Yamaha 10M for a short while before the CS-2. The CS-3 is noisier especially when Sustain is too high. The CS-2 is more natural but the CS-3 snappier. You kind of feel them in your playing I find. I don't like playing without Compression as it's part of my sound for 25 years.

The're both really great, but the CS-2 wins. The CS-3 sounds thinner, tinny. The CS-2 is really full, doesn't even sound like an effect, which is what you want.

Mij cs3's always sound great. The main conclusion is that Boss compressors are best.

both solid, both different. Personally like the cs-2 better, sounds rounder and more open in comparison, whereas the cs-3 sounds kinda flat

CS-3 has a tone knob, You can dial the sound very similar to CS-2. Both pedals have the special BOSS compressor “ sound”, this is the most important.
For Gilmour replica pedalboard the CS-2 + MXR script Dyna Comp is must have.😃

Boss CS-2 is the best comp sustainer in the planet.very natural sound.CS -3 is thinner.

Though the cs-3 sounds tinny, it's actually perfect for my needs. I use it to brighten up and focus my tone. I like to use moderately thick strings so the extra brightness helps me.

The CS-2 has an accurate sound without any coloring, while the CS-3 sounds more plasticky.

Its totally obvious (TOTALLY) that the CS2 is far more musical to the ear. The CS3 is glassy and clanky in comparison
