The older turbo technology where all the power arrived very high in the rev range gives the driver and especially the passengers the sensation that the car is faster than it really is due to the boost coming on all at once. The new turbos in general are more progressive and deliver power more smoothly even very low in the rev range so you don't get that burst of thrust and thus the newer turbo cars may feel somewhat slower and less dramatic. Cool Car!

I have one of these.  Loud, rough ride, leaks oil (its 30 years old, if it's not leaking a bit of oil now and again, there's probably none in it) and smokes like a Clemson fat house.

Damn is it fun!
