October 2020, New York - Instituto Cervantes began operating as a cultural nonprofit in 1994. Since then, it has been a vibrant center of culture, learning, and social life in Manhattan, offering Spanish courses for all levels and an ambitious program celebrating the Spanish-speaking world, including lectures, book presentations, concerts, and art exhibits.

Instituto Cervantes is located in Amster Yard, a former 19th-century boarding house, a station of the Boston Post Road and a commercial yard. In 1944, it was purchased by James Amster and converted into apartments, which he rented to many key figures in the design field: Norman Norell (fashion designer), Billy Baldwin (interior designer), Isamu Noguchi (sculptor), and Swid Powell (design firm). Amster Yard was acquired in 1999 and renovated by the Instituto Cervantes.

Join Richard Bueno Hudson, Executive Director of Instituto Cervantes, for a tour of the complex including the Jorge Luis Borges Library, which provides convenient access to a wide selection of literature in Spanish as well as videos of the most important films produced in the Spanish language.
