For some reason Shamisen sometimes reminds me of a type of music form the region in Italy that I am from. It´s called pizzica and is from the salento region of Puglia. They are obviously quite different since in pizzica you use more instruments and you sing but they both sound complex to me and sometimes these fast shamisen songs remind me of it. I really like that this type of cultural music is not dying and with the intenet even beeing spread further.
