Gerrard was great but to me he wasn’t pleasing on the eyes. He didn’t have great technical ability where he could manipulate the ball and for me that’s a weakness. He was effective but his game was more brute force, grit and energy. As great as Gerard is I prefer to watch David Silva. Different players, yes, but I just like to see midfielders who can manipulate the ball.

Gerrard couldn't dictate the pace of the game. Didn't have the vision to cut through defensive lines. Couldn't dribble. Too much of a liability (v Suarez/Uruguay, v Dembaba), but had clutch moments (v WestHam, v AC/CL final). He can do back & sideway passes😅, would try to tackle & had long range pass & long range shot at goal. At best, he is poor man's Essien 👌💥
