Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - The Best First Impression?

It feels a bit strange to say, but the opening chapter of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, in a way, feels more like a Final Fantasy VII remake than Final Fantasy VII Remake ever did. This is especially interesting considering how the latter half of Final Fantasy VII Remake derailed the story of the original game in favour of an unknown journey that is sure to change things up quite a bit.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will no doubt make good on those promises as the game progresses but it is still noteworthy how closely the opening chapter seems to stick to the script of the original game, resulting in a comforting and familiar experience, brought to life by the latest technology available, just like many would expect from a classic Remake—even though we all know that the Remake trilogy is shaping up to become something else entirely, with its unique mixture of faithfulness and novelty, simultaneously appealing to our nostalgia and sense of mystery.

I mean thousands died in sector 7, the point is really driven home by Yuffie's DLC. I always felt the OG kind of brushed it off like an after thought. In remake, however, took more time with the shock/terror and explored the characters emotional ranges. Most likely being much easier to convey emotion through voice acting than your typical text.

lol whenever I see Cloud jump in rebirth I always hear that jumping noise from the original in my head.

I'm still of the idea that nothing has changed, that the Whispers are the Cries of The Planet in visible form, performing as usual and that everything is still going the way it was in OG. Sephiroth was able to travel the Lifestream, between past, present and future, since he died in the reactor in Nibelheim, so what he says at the temple of the Ancients, would explain what's happening in Remake.
Nibelheim is supposed to be the most important and plot relevant part in FF7, so I appreciate how faithfully and masterfully it was handled in the demo.
They made it even more impactful in my opinion, I loved it.
About the goofiness of Rebirth, it's a great and welcome change of pace after FF16, which was a bit too serious throughout for my liking.

I didn’t liked it that much. Performance mod is blurry AF, quality mode is jerky. Nibelheim has changed a lot 😂. I prefered when the shinra was towering over nibhelheim, instead of being set aside in the forest. The combat system where we are 5 fives and only me is fighting. The voice actor for Cloud in my language is easily the worst of the cast.

I've not played the demo as I was so disappointed by remake that I sold my PS5. Might give this a try at some point, but will wait for PC and when its dirt cheap now.
