These sites are fun and helpful but they still have faults and aren't consistent. Just be careful and do thorough research when you look at vehicles you want to purchase

Got to 2 days before my listing was to expire and received an offer from a person with a female name for $1900 less than my listing price. I rejected it to then receive another offer very close to my listing price minus $400, and a message stating my cars value at only $33 above that second offer from the female. I then wrote a note asking who and where she is and why she hadn't even visited or scheduled a test drive. No response. I have a feeling it was a cargurus rep trying to buy my car for a price well below what I could get had I listed it somewhere else. I think they flip cars, and that's just my hunch. I'm letting my ad expire and I don't think I'll list again with them.

If you look online it’s fairly well known, meaning this isn’t conspiracy talk, if you search from an Apple product the market research says you are likely to have a larger income and are more willing to spend money so sites like this will show you the more expensive products first. I read about this when doing searches for rental cars and hotels for my vacation. Because I was using android I got lower priced results than if I used my iPhone. It seems insane companies would somehow think I have more money based on weather I have a Samsung or iPhone.

My husband and I drove 1hr and 10mins to see a seven seater SUV to find it was a five seater. We filtered to seven seater SUVs on the Car Gurus website so not sure why a five seater would come up on the listing. We also called the dealer and they said it a seven seater when it wasn't. Waste of time and gas for no reason.

Did you login cargurus when you using mobile? I think they personalized users' search. So results are different whether you login or not.

Thx. I’m giving car gurus a shot trying to sell a truck. Hasn’t posted yet. They said give it 6 hrs.

Ok, instead of writing all of that, I should have said, *"APPS are **_REALTIME_** vs the majority of websites that are **_NOT!"_* Realtime is updated from minute to minute or hour to hour depending on the product line of supply and demand!

Where should I look at online for a used vehicle? I’m interested in a used dodge charger

So, you're discussing an APP vs the website. The difference between the apps and most corporate websites are the ALGORITHMS! A lot of big corporate websites are beginning to catch-up on their site's updates to their APPs. The way the programmers do the algorithm is the reason why APPs are more efficient than websites. So, to answer your problem in thinking that it's a sham: NO, the CarGurus programmers made a totally different algorithm to pull-up cars versus the programmers for the app that modifies the search differently, hourly to daily. One can fix the issue by syncing the software. Also, most corporations do not have their internal computer programmers do their app software, it would come from an external company that would result in a different programming script!
