Thank you for this guide. Just completed my 1st trip towing a Coleman 17B. What I did not expect was the significant heat on what I'm guessing is on the battery (or motors?). The car didn't like the 2000ft elevation gain in 80 miles. AC was still blowing cold, but the floor was radiating too much heat, and we're toasting inside. This was on a 90F night btw.

I have a 2023 with lithium and it powers my camper no problem. I tested this by disconnecting my battery and seeing if lights/etc still worked. I know people talked about the need for a step down converter, but honestly it seems to be fine

What if you use the 12v plug in the back of the model Y and run a thin cord out the hatch and tap into that pin that needs 12v? Doable? Tap into the wire or get a passthrough plug with 16v not connected and hook into that? Prob only 5ft from that back plug or so.

It’s the Jayco Flight SLX 183BH and it’s 340 hitch weight and 3340 total weight. However this is the Baja edition and the dealership received it weighing just under 360 hitch weight and 3540 pounds. I have since removed the 80 pound lead acid battery and replaced with a lithium ion so it’s just barely under maximum specs

The whole towing thing with a Tesla is a problem. I'm buying a 2800 lb trailer to tow with my 2023 Model X. Tesla advises not to use a weight distribution hitch, due to the unibody design of the car. You’re also not supposed to have ball rise of more than .75”. It’s very hard to know what I should do, but I’ve decided to go with a hitch that rises to a proper level for the trailer, and skip the WDH initially and see how it tows at 60 mph.

With the trailer taking the full 3500 lb load there’s no weight left for passengers or cargo. Do you have another vehicle to carry everything else?
