Thanks for an actual video about this and not a sales pitch. I appreciate it.

I bought the Dust Right 750 last year and at the time, did not know this product existed. Maybe it didn't back when I was doing my research (Feb '21), but I would have given it serious consideration if I had known about it. The specs are about the same. Rockler states that mine gets 750 cfm but I've measured the airflow at the end of the hose and it's around 500 cfm, which is what the specs say about the Laguna. They're both around the same size, physically. The cannister filters are about the same size. The biggest difference today is the price. Rockler wants $820 for the '750' and only $600 for the Laguna. I got my '750' for about $550 at the time I bought it (Mar '21) and the price has risen dramatically since then. Interesting decision on Rockler's part given that there is a competing product that they're selling for $200 less.

I too went from a shop vac, with the Dustopper to a larger unit and it is really a night and day difference. I measured the airflow of my shop vac set up and while the vacuum itself gets around 180 cfm at the inlet port, I was only getting about 80 cfm at the end of the hose (after the Dustopper) which is nothing when trying to evacuate sawdust from a table saw cabinet (I have the Ridgid R4512).

It's been a year since your review. I'd love to hear your thoughts on your Laguna dust collector now that you've really had a chance to use it well.

1) Looks like you changed the mechanism for releasing and locking bag - what are you using?
2) Doesn't keeping motor on top makes it unstable ?

If you have room in your shop, I would recommend some kind of chip separator before the motor. It will help the impeller last longer and keep large chips from clogging the line at the impeller. For example; planer and jointer chips, they tend to pile up like a hay stack on the brace right by the impeller.

Thanks for sharing. I totally miss the good brand laguna after I almost purchase everything. Personally I wouldn't use the crank on the top that much simply it takes life out of the filter. Can you imagine the rubbing and grinding occurred on the paper pleat? I normally just tap the outside filter with hand and blow with compress air or shop vac blower. You know they love selling those filters.

Thanks for the video, I also went to this model from a shop vac and it was a game changer for my little shop. Changing the bags are a pain but for me worth the effort. Check out the spring clamps from Woodcraft as they make moving the hose from tool to tool much easier.

yeah i am installing my tubes and motor inverted the way you proceeded.

You do not need to put the clamp around the outside of the bag if you do the pressure clip in correctly

Laguna has the motor set up the opposite of the way you have itt (they have it hanging down)
I don't know if that matters

Do you find the filter clogging easily?

Nice. I have the same dust collector. Works fine but I do do plan to upgrade to a more powerful motor. I hope your trash collection service uses a mechanical arm lift or those waste management employees will hate your guts for breathing all that saw dust lol
