Mt. Haguro Solo Hike │ Japan’s Sacred Dewa Sanzan Mountains

Показать описание
Tim Bunting AKA Kiwi Yamabushi takes you on an adventure up Mt. Haguro, the first mountain on the Dewa Sanzan pilgrimage of rebirth.
On December 8th, 2020, I headed to Mt. Haguro in a bit of a revenge mission, as I was unable to visit the prior two months. I was so overwhelmed with emotion when I got closer, probably because of all the emotion expressed over years of Yamabushi training there.
In 2020, I could only visit Mt. Haguro a handful of times, but in previous years I was up there at least once a month. Needless to say, I have built quite a bit of knowledge about the place, that I wish to share on this channel. But first, the experience.
Yamabushi training is all about the practice; going and doing the training is everything. Only those who have done it can truly understand it, and I hope to be somewhat of a bridge to those interested in joining us. Through the music and visuals I tried to express the real feeling of being there, but the only way to really do that is of course being there yourself, and perhaps even joining the Yamabushi in training.
A little about the mountain: Mt. Haguro has played host to over a millennia of Yamabushi trainings. These days, the three mountains of Dewa, Mt. Haguro, Mt. Gassan, and Mt. Yudono collectively, play host to Yamabushi pilgrimages, but Mt. Haguro used to have its very own pilgrimage of rebirth. You can learn more about this place on the page I made especially for it :)
I talk about becoming a Yamabushi in this video:
