"Sandwich" isn't a French word; it's a *loan word* from English, so it's hardly surprising that we pronounce them a bit similarly. That also goes for other words that French has adopted from English, such as "week-end", "jogging", or "gang-bang". Yes, we have those words in common, but it's not because both Francophones and Anglophones have used them for a long time. France simply adopted them from English.

i have a question, so 'h' is not a vowel, so how come the silent letter in the previous word still is pronounced? or does this rule not apply to just vowels?
