So, if you put on the JPM long calls or credit spread, and the vix long calls as a hedge, and JPM goes up and the vix goes down, or vice versa, how do you benefit? It's a wash. One loses the same amount as the other position wins and you aren't ahead of the game any at all. Doesn't make sense. Hedging is nothing more than a synthetic straddle or strangle. I have NEVER made money on straddles or strangles for this very reason.
