Calls to ban social media app TikTok in Australia grows

Calls to ban TikTok in Australia are growing in response to concerns it is harvesting unnecessary amounts of information.

The social media platform has access to a high amount of personal data not required to make the app work.

EFTM.com Editor Trevor Long said he doesn’t see the app being banned but sees a lot of conversations about how to “crackdown” on the social media platform.

“The concern here is that the TikTok app itself, specifically on Android phones ... is asking for permissions just a little bit beyond what anyone would normally need,” he told Sky News Australia.

“In the end, it’s a Chinese app, there’s no scooting around that, and if that’s the kind of thing that worries you, it’s not a platform to be on.”

You can fine Facebook or other companies for breaking the privacy law. But CCP is not going to play by the books or pay any fines imposed when/if they are found guilty‼️ So if you value your privacy and personal data don't download tik tok or wechat‼️

Any parent who actually loved their child would monitor what their child was accessing on internet. Alas these days most parents don't give a shit, as long as their child is quite and not under their feet they couldn't care less.

Add Twitter, Facebook (aka Meta) Instagram, Snapchat to that list. Alphabet and Apple also have an outsized interest in harvesting user data as well.

The data might be in Singapore, but it can still be accessed by China in a few seconds. They own the platform, so they have ALL the permissions.

the ccp probably has they data just course the data is in Singapore doesn't mean the ccp got access to it.
according to Chinese law if the ccp ask for data the business like tiktok is forced to hand over data.
