The waterfall release strategy is basically standard practice now. You upload a single. Then you upload another release with your last single included as the second track (and delete the last single once your see play counts are linked). Rinse and repeat. It's better for artists and for listeners. People can listen to all your new songs in once place instead of hunting down the individual single via your profile. I wish there was a better pricing structure to accomodate this style of release on CD baby. Paying for all your singles and your album adds up quite a bit.

The main benefit I can see in the waterfall strategy is in promoting to new listeners. If a new listener clicks on a Facebook ad for my third single, and that person happens to like it well enough to listen all the way through, then the next song they’ll hear will be one of my other singles, one they may already be familiar with from its ad campaign a few weeks ago.
