Webinar - Counter-Terrorism and COVID-19 Gendered Perspectives

Terrorism and responses to it have very real gendered human and social costs. The gendered impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are exacerbating and complicating these costs. In this dynamic and challenging context, security sectors must balance their responsibility to protect citizens from harm and their responsibility to protect human rights.

UN Women, OSCE ODIHR, DCAF, and a panel of experts discussed the gendered impacts of securitized approaches to the prevention of violent extremism and counter-terrorism, the new challenges that have emerged through the global pandemic, and the principles to guide civil society and governments moving forward.
