Why Twitter Changed to X

Twitter is one of the most popular apps on iOS, but it recently dropped its iconic bird branding for something less recognizable; an X. So why did this happen?

Twitter, meaning the sound of birds chirping, or people chatting, and “tweet” meaning a single bird sound, and making it to the dictionary, is a genius branding for a social media service. The logo was perfect in every way, and the brand is embedded in billions of people’s minds. It’s just incredible to see that thrown away and replaced by such a sophomoric, and prosaic branding that brings no meaning to the service.

If Elon is so obsessed with the letter, he could’ve at the very least just renamed the site to TwitterX, which would still retain the site’s identity. Or at the very very least, rename Twitter Blue to Twitter X.

Personally, I wouldn't have merged Twitter with his X brand. The verb Twitter might be irrelevant due to more characters and features, but it's an instantly recognisable brand all over the world. But, Elon has bought Twitter and he can do with it as he sees fit. As of now, he's doing more harm to the platform than good.
