Thank goodness for you truckers who actually help. Another trucker just pulled me to the side at a receiver and told me this, I had no idea about a bridge law, just get the axles within weight range. been driving solo for like 3 months just now learning this

Helpful video. When making a video though always turn your phone horizontal to get full screen and avoid those black spaces.

So In California the trailer marking is to be set at the 40 mark over the center of the rear back axle, can you go forward more pass that mark Mabe 2 or 3 hole’s? Which would put the 40 mark further past the center of that back axle. Is that ok n California? Or do it have to be right at 40 over the center axle and not a hole or two back from that axle, which would put the 40 mark Mabe over the back part of the rear axle or so?

Wait this doesn’t make sense to me. Are you saying the trailer needs to only be at the state mark? It can’t be longer or shorter? Exactly one place is legal only?

What hole on 53' 🤯 for 41 ft? I have never heard of a 41 foot bridge law 😤 however I know they have length restrictions in Oregon

Bridge laws have everything to do with bridges lol...the whole reason they regulated king pin to axel on interstate travel is to evenly disperse weight as you're going across a bridge.

Am I mistaken but isn't the bridge laws on interstate highways the same ?

Penndot pulls me over says I violated bridge law. Twin screw with 53 footer tandems all the way back .load only weighs 18 k.sounds fishy.he let me go with warning.dosent weight factor in to this? I think he screwed up not realizing my weight so he let me go. Anybody got a idea?

Bro you're explaining the kingpin rule not the bridge weight formula bridge weight formula is measured from center axle number three to axle number 5. That distance allows 34, 000, lbs. You could be at the 41' mark and in complete violation of bridge weight laws. Really far over 34, 000lbs. and the maximum distance allowable permissible by that is 36' UNLESS your weight is less than 34, 000 lbs ON AXLE GROUPING ft you did a great job of explaining the kingpin rule and you did not explain the bridge weight formula at all.

The bridge law is that the maximum your tandems can be slid back because I have a light load and my tandems are slid to the front
