In episode 17 we go from Leon to Granada, Nicaragua. We step off the bus and walk right into a massive street parade! The first of many we will experience in Nicaragua - celebrations are taken very seriously here! We embark on a food mission to find some of the most popular Nicaraguan street foods (spoiler- QUESILLO IS THE FOOD OF THE GODS). We also have a slightly nerve-wracking climb up into two ancient colonial-era Cathedrals, all within eyeshot of the gargantuan Lake Cocibolca and Mombacho Volcano.

Ahhh... GRANADA... it's literally one of my favorite places on earth... I love Nacatamales, not sure I'd be willing to try a vegetarian version, though...
You guys provide such good information with such ease...
Yes, Granada was almost burned to the ground by an American named William Walker, after Nicaraguans didn't jive with his self-appointment as PRESIDENT.
Also, You're 100% right, Granada was indeed the first Colonial city founded by the Spaniards.
PD: Didn't heed your warning and now "Burrito Savanero" is stuck in mi head -- Thanks!!!

Lovely to see places we will never go. Looks like you had a great time. The stairs had no handrail 😱
Good view. The bell came from our home 🌈❤️👍

Did a study abroad in Granada in 2010. What an awesome place and people. Lots of history and Colonial Architecture. But, it's so hot and humid. Good thing beer is cold and cheap. I loved it there. And will return soon hopefully. Yeah, they have a holiday and celebration for everything all the time there.

The parade is such a great welcome to the city! What an exciting time to be travelling here love all the celebrations! Totally agree with 'eat where the locals do'. Always a good sign! Awesome that you found your way onto the roof - finding spots you 'shouldn't be' always lead to great places!

Going to a place where any festivities are going makes your travel just un-explainable. Great cover.

I would not climb that middle staircase. The belltower at least had a wall. Good narration. Dont stand under a bell when they ring!

The upside down stairs is exotic. There are many buildings that look historical. Were you visiting an old town?
