George Harrison had this to say about Brian: "When I met him I liked him quite a lot. He was a good fellow, you know. I got to know him very well, I think, and I felt very close to him; you know how it is with some people, you feel for them, feel near to them. He was born on February 28, 1943 and I was born on February 25, 1943, and he was with Mick and Keith and I was with John and Paul in the groups, so there was a sort of understanding between the two of us. The positions were similar, and I often seemed to meet him in his times of trouble. There was nothing the matter with him that a little extra love wouldn't have cured. I don't think he had enough love or understanding. He was very nice and sincere and sensitive, and we must remember him like that because that's what he was."

It’s sad what happened to him, as well as Syd Barret.

Just read how after Dick Rowe famously rejected the Beatles for Decca, he shortly later asked George Harrison about new bands and George told him about the Stones (whom he immediately signed).

Sid,

1. I believe it was the contractor who did it; though I'm skeptical on "deathbed confessions"
2. Brian's estate was at one time owned by the author of the Winnie the Pooh novels; AA Milne.

Here we are in our 70's looking back through the past darkly as Tears go by. I can only say that I wish it didn't happen. The Stones are incredible and legendary, all of them and very much so including the late Brian Jones. RIP Brian, Charlie and Ian, all the greatest Artists on the planet.☮️♥️🌟🌄

Ironically, 1966-67 would have been nothing without my fellow, Welsh Jones: sitar, flute, Saxophone, marimba, harpsichord on Dandelion, Dulcimer, and the Japanese koto on “Take It or Leave It.” This is leaving out the guitar, which he was better at. Unfortunately, he was blocked out of songwriting CREDIT. He DID write the music for many of the songs, i.e. Ruby Tuesday among many others: he simply was not credited.

Bill Wyman in a interview once said without Brian Jones they would have never been a Rolling Stones hey man of many talents just slide guitar work on no expectations marimbas on under my thumb recorder on Ruby Tuesday sitar on painted black who introduced Jimi Hendrix to the world at the Monterey pop Festival and recorded with the Beatles. He was a giant but also oh so frail

Brian Jones death was very sad. This is the guy who was the leader of the Rolling Stones when they first started out. Then of course Mick and Keith took over. If that caused Brian‘s problems later on it’s hard to know. He was arguably the best all-around musician on the Stones.

And he was the only Rolling Stone to play on a Beatles song. He played saxophone on the song “you know my name, look up the number”. Not one of the Beatles greatest hits, but there he was.

Sam Cutler's book "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is a must read for Rolling Stones or Grateful Dead fans. He spoke about the dislike that British society had against Brian Jones. He was young and wealthy and traditional aristocracy looked down upon him, his drug convictions didn't help. He was so depside by authorities that after his MURDER the police had not declared it a crime scene. Because of that complete strangers that heard of his death walked in the front door of his mansion and took stuff. Guitars, personal items etc.. were all stolen. It wasn't until 2 days after his death was reported in the news that the police declared it so and taped it off.

The cavalier way the Stones treated Jones' death was absolutely dispicable.

At this point we will never find out what happened to Brian

There were other originals on their earliest albums but were under the “nanker phlege” writing credit which was supposed to fill in for a whole band collaboration

The autopsy supposedly said he had fresh water in his lungs not clorinated like pool water suggesting he was drowned out of the pool in the fountain instead

This is the man that played pretty much every other instrument besides the guitar, bass, and drums, the Instruments needed to play more of an eclectic, well rounded style of music instead of copying Blues songs over, and over. Thanks Brian. 😎👍

How can you omit that Jagger and Richards had been on the property earlier that day to try to get Jones to sign off on the band name?

I think Brian was killed. The way Stones talk about him you can see how when he is mentioned there is always an awkward pause and some of them even talked ill about him. One doesnt talk ill about someone they knew and died, in such manner, if they didnt have something to do with it.

Brian was the leader of the band and arguably the physically most attractive of them and the most talented. Put on top of that that he was probably extremely intelligent if he managed to put that band practicaly by himself and name them too. I mean if he had the say how the band should be called- it says everything who was in charge. Also, you can see on earlier photos he was at the center of the picture - not Mick or Keith. He was practicaly The Rolling Stones.

At first, I can imagine they were more than satisfied with the attention the band was getting but became pretty frustrated when it was all about Brian. As the business grew so did their apetites. Anyone who was in a group of people where him/she was wastly better than the others in whatever they did - they usualy are met with hate.

Brian was one of those people who wasnt gonna go without a bang. So this silent back and forth went through the years and I think he was set against the rest of the band and it was bitter until the very end. He certainly held the rights to the name and they feared a lawsuit.
Charlie Watts hated his guts till the very end.
What I find very peculiar is how all of them found some really weird reasons why he was out of the band. As if the others werent out of their minds at the same time BRian was on drugs. Its a fact that whatever they accuse Brian of being - they were 10 times worse than him. That is the funny part. None of them had any credible reason to dislike him.

They've wrestled out his band out of his hands and I think they are feeling guilty to this moment. Of All women Keith Richards took his. They ripped him apart like a pack of wolves. Also I think all of this happened while he was aware of it. It probably hurt to see how the people you trusted and was bandmates with to literally screw you over like that royally.

They surely were implicated in his murder. Lots of thinks dont add up- like the water in his lungs not being from the pool.
