I feel this is the duel where the writers said to our faces “we’re done, we have no idea what to do with this kid.” I can understand writing him out of the series in a respectable way, like he gets an opportunity to work as an intern for KaibaCorp and takes it, seeing he can enjoy the game he loves in another way and can tell he’s growing more apart from everyone. It could have been a good character moment. He could even come back in Season 3 to help with the portal and still help deal with Yubel and the Supreme King. But I hate that they made him a joke and ditched him, that’s what hurts.

They really gave this man the chumley treatment, going from one of jaden's first rivals to a straight up simp.

Man, he doesn't even need the brainwashing post-duel. At first, it may seem like his brainwashing takes the form of playing on his desires for recognition, but later on he just willingly leaves without needing to be beaten. That shows he was always just willingly going along with everything. Why didn't they use this golden opportunity for a villain arc (even if it is similar to Zane's)?

I wish that this battled ended with Bastion losing not because of Sartorius’ influence, but him trying to be a hero to stand against the Society of Light, only for him to go down as he didn’t have what it takes to be the hero

Something I never understood was why they gave the characters so many decks they’d NEVER print (or take 20 years to print), instead of using existing archetypes IRL. Might’ve helped sales as well.

Funny how Bastion was top student with Jaden and they wrote him off like it was nothing. They could at least made him villain and give him some props.
