I was reffing an 8th grade basketball game and got tired of the coaches always questioning the calls. So the next time it happened, I changed the call. The other coach went ballistic, so I changed it back. The first coach went ballistic. I simply asked them how long they would like to do this. Grade 8.

I'm 60 when I was young the most important part of sports was teaching children teamwork and above all good sportsmanship. Youth sports has neither anymore . Screw sports.

I coached for over 20 years. The kids were never the problem. It was the parents. And 95% of the problems are caused by 5% of the parents.

The theme on why this keeps happening is not a secret. A culture that has romanticized, glorified, and promotes anger, violence, and arrogance is the why!

These parents signed their kids for sports for one reason only to be drafted into NBA, NFL, MLB and etc. Let the kids play you fools.

You know what's worse? All other adults sitting quietly instead of helping the referee by calming down the situation. When you as an adult can't/won't stand up to a bully, what type of role model are you?

I played softball into hs, parent didnt act like this. My niece plays now, and I was FLOORED how many parents were DRUNK and yelling at the girls, like straight up verbal abusive! I had never experienced anything like that a mere 15 yrs ago.

When I was a Boy Scout camp counselor, I once refereed a basketball tournament. A couple of the parents seemed to think their kids were playing in the NCAA Final Four. I had to stop a game twice to tell this parent to shut up or leave. I was only 17 telling off 40+ year old men in front of about 100 people. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t been there, but I was proud of myself for sticking up to adults like that.

Back in the late 80's I was involved with little league soccer for 7 years, and I never saw anything like these incidents even once.
And I'm willing to wager theyre nearly all the same people who are trying to destroy public education.
