It kind of works this new bevel (weight) option. But, when you enter data into the bevel modifiers tab, it applys to all the edges of that object. In the options pannel you can set the amount of bevel for a selected edge, but when you want to bevel an other edge of that same object with different values, you still are stuck on the values entered into the bevel modifiers tab.

Blender 2.82 is so exciting! This feature is a Godsend for anyone doing hard-surface modelling. Add to that UDIM support, USD export (albeit still not feature complete), Light Groups for Cycles, and custom AOVs for Cycles, ON TOP of all of the new sculpt features. Oh, and Mantaflow. I'm thrilled for this new Blender! That's not even a complete list.
Plug: I made a video demonstrating one way to use the new custom AOVs.

Just as a general sort of warning, this obviously creates n-gons, which could be an issue in various cases. You don't want to add bevels everywhere, create tons of n-gons, then have to clean them up. Be aware of whether or not you need to avoid them, and deal with them as you make them if you need to.
