Staithes, North Yorkshire, what a gem of a place!

Staithes is a traditional Yorkshire coastal fishing village set into the hillside. There is a very steep hill to walk down to reach the sea front. The village is small, and there are lots of alley ways to explore. None of the houses are numbered they are all named, which apparently causes the Royal Mail some problems when the regular postman is absent.
There are many great views from both the cliff top and down at the seafront.
There are 2 breakwaters to prevent the village being damaged by the sea.
There is a seafront pub called Cod & Lobster where you can site outside watching over the harbour.
The beach is also dog friendly and Abbey had a run around here.
Staithes also is home to a RNLI lifeboat, the RNLI is one of our favourite charities and we love to visit the stations.
This was our first visit to Staithes and found it to be a stunning location and is certainly worth a visit.

That was like a walk down memory lane, we'd forgotten how nice Staithes is. Thanks for sharing it with us Helen and Martin

Excellent video, we like the new format. Staithes is a local haunt of ours and we learnt some new things so we are looking forwarding to returning and exploring some more.

I wanted to visit here since watching it on a recent program where Robson Green highlights several areas within the North East. Credit to the film editing because it gave the impression that there's loads to see and do. It looked like a miniature Whitby. Just been today and yes it's a pretty little seaside village but it's basically one street with a few little alleyways. There's a couple of pub's, sweet shop and ice cream/café . Very little else to be honest. I would struggle to fill in a couple of hours here. Worthy of note, it's not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies, unless you have superhuman strength and the person or child you are pushing doesn't mind being rattled around on the cobbles. It's a nice place to visit if you have an hour to kill on the way to Whitby or Scarborough. Just my opinion. If you love it then fair play.

When I lived there as a Steers lad I biked up the bank many times and thought nothing of ir. All these videos of my village and none of you have shown my house near the Wesley chapel opposite all the crab houses
